Class 105 Paper-Covered Film-Insulated Round Copper Magnet Wire typically consists of a round copper core that is insulated with paper and covered with a film layer for protection and insulation purposes.
Insulating Material:
The insulating material shall be rope paper, Kraft paper, or both. The paper covering shall be one or more tape layers wrapped firmly, closely, evenly, and continuously around the wire.
Thermal Class: 105 impregnated or in oil. The thermal class of fibrous-covered or paper tape–wrapped wire shall be based on experience.
Copper Conductor Diameter:
8-32AWG:
Insulation thickness | Diameter |
single | 8-32AWG min: 0.015mm-0.043mmmax: 0.229mm-3.338mm |
heavy | 8-32AWGmin: 0.028mm-0.089mmmax: 0.246mm-3.383mm |
triple | 14-32AWGmin: 0.043mm-0.122mmmax: 0.259mm-1.773mm |
quad | 10-24AWGmin: 0.056mm-0.172mmmax: 0.284mm-2.789mm |
For covering, for wire having two or three layers (N) and tape thickness of 0.051 or 0.076 mm.
Adherence And Flexibility: No openings sufficient to expose the bare or film-insulated conductor when wound on the following mandrel:
AWG Size | Mandrel Size |
8-13.5 | 5d |
14-22.5 | 4d |
23-32 | 3d |
No openings sufficient to expose the bare wire after elongation
as follows:
AWG Size | Elongation Method |
8-13.5 | 15% (+2, -0) |
14-22.5 | 10% (+2, -0) |
23-24 | 8% (+2, -0) |
Elongation: Not less than 10%
Springback: Not greater than 5º
