Insulation Material:
The insulation material shall be aromatic polyamide paper. The paper covering shall consist of one or more tapes, each of which shall be firmly, tightly, evenly and continuously wound around the wire and shall be constructed to provide the specified number of tape layers (thickness of paper). The paper covering shall consist of at least two layers of paper with an overlap of not less than 40%.
Characteristic:
Adhesion and flexibility: | The covering shall not loosen appreciably or open enough to expose the bare wire after being bent around a mandrel 6 times the bare wire thickness |
Elongation | Not less than 15% |
Dielectric breakdown | Not less than 300 V/mil (11800 V/mm) of the minimum thickness of the paper covering on one side (half the minimum increase) |
